We are interested in the interface between people, architecture and the city. We focus on contexts undergoing processes of urban transformation because only through the deep understanding of the complexities and significance of a place, interventions and policies can be designed to produce sensitive and sustainable outcomes. Our methodology embraces collaborative learning, relational research and the exploration of architectural language as a tool for investigation, knowledge exchange and communication. The projects shared here are diverse in scope, scale and format, defined by the specific needs of each study case and collaboration. In common, they all explore the magic and potential of working collectively and are driven by the will to always keep learning. If cities were machines for living and working,&nbsp;Stratford would be a perfect city. But life is more than&nbsp;that, cities are not machines, and Stratford is far from perfect. What is it missing then?This project, a collaboration with Grow Studios, Creative Land Trust, Purcell Architects, London Borough of Newham, Unit A (University of East London) and Studio 2 (Central Saint Martins), proposes to explore this question by taking Stratford Civic Centre as our study area, and engaging with Newham's ambitious vision to place ‘people’ and ‘planet’ at the heart of public policy in the regeneration of Stratford Town Centre. As part of this new agenda, LB of Newham welcomed Grow Studios, an affordable workspace and artist studio provider, into Alice Billing House, the former Stratford Firefighters’ accommodation, and a listed building which remained empty for decades and was brought back to life by the Creative Land Trust with the support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund.The opportunities and conflicts arising from emerging creative uses and&nbsp;shifting&nbsp;demographics will become the starting point for our social-spatial investigation, and for the development of transformative strategies and interventions that can foster urban and civic&nbsp;life&nbsp;and reimagine Stratford Civic Center as a place for local people, for new social situations and new ecologies. However, in a city with ever increasing land prices and ever diminishing availability of spaces, existing artists communities are being quickly replaced and displaced, and the natural and maybe inevitable fate of artist’s studio providers is to move out of London. But if artists are the basis for social and cultural innovativeness, what does this mean for the city in the long term? What is the cultural and social value of keeping artists' studios in the city? The community outcry which followed, revealed the limitations of the institutional knowledge in relation to this cluster of socially produced and much-valued spaces. It was within this context that, in collaboration with Hackney Council, we set out to investigate the significance of key stakeholders in Dalston town centre. The final output, a large format drawing, 3.5m wide by 2.5m high, visualising and anlysing the web of relations and interdependencies of the urban actors and their wider impact, became part of the evidence base studies for the Draft Dalston Plan and Local Plan 2033, adopted in 2020. The models were exhibited as part of a field-museum on site alongside the excavations, and were designed as investigative tools themselves. The multi-dimensional approach helped to communicate how the spaces of interest had changed over time, as well as enabled the team of archaeologists to creatively explore the site and its surrounding landscape, supporting the process of archaeological interpretation during the excavation, an unexpected but highly appreciated aspect of the outcome.This was a collaborative live-project with L - P : Archaeology (working for Fusion-JV on behalf of HS2) for St. Mary’s Field Museum, which run between July and September 2021. The models featured in BBC’s ‘Digging for Britain’ programme on BBC1 (BBC i-player - Series 9- Episode 2). When that happens, Carnival breaks the dominant state of our streets and city spaces by democratically producing social spaces through collective action.&nbsp; Tropical Isles is a London based carnival youth group which works with over one hundred members aged 13 to 25. The charity’s aims are to assist young people in building life skills, confidence and supporting wellbeing. And, at the centre of their activities is the year-round preparation to compete as registered Mas-band at Notting Hill Carnival, Hackney Carnival and Bielefeld Carnival. Fernanda Palmieri is architect and urban designer, working across practice and research and between London and São Paulo. She is a lecturer at Central Saint Martins and the University of East London, and completed a Master of Research in critical urbanism in 2021 (UEL MRes Architecture).&nbsp;She led the São Paulo based studio Galeria Arquitetos with Fernanda Neiva for 20 years where she acquired a vast experience in working collaboratively and practiced architecture at all scales, from urban infrastructure and public realm projects to institutional, educational and residential buildings. In the UK, she worked in regeneration projects, housing and educational buildings. Some of the projects she participated include Charter School Sports Hall (Southwark Building and Design Services - 2005), Aylesbury Estate Phase 1a (Levitt Bernstein Architects - 2007) and Bexleyheath Master Plan (Allies and Morrison - 2008). Carsten Jungfer is architect and urban designer, working across practice, research, and knowledge exchange with over two decades experience through multi-disciplinary collaborations in community, public realm, art &amp; workspace, mixed-use, residential, retail and participatory design projects. He is partner at zectorarchitects based in London &amp; Munich, which he co-founded with Norbert Kling in 2003. He’s joint recipient of the Munich Architecture Award 2020 (Förderpreis München), successfully participated in international competitions (Europan 10) and consecutively worked on Dessau’s central public realm strategy implemented between 2010-20. He is senior lecturer at the Department of Architecture at the University of East London, where he leads a design studio with focus on socio-spatial production and city-making since 2012. Through live-project pedagogy he delivers innovative learning partnerships together with community stakeholders and local authorities (incl.
